1st Annual Durney Key Challenge April 28th 2013

Paddling Pasco “Durney Key Challenge” 1st Annual Event: This is a 2.3 mile paddling race course around stilt houses in open water starting and ending on Durney Key, a small island just off the mouth of the Pithlachascotee (Cotee) River in Port Richey, Pasco County. Along the course there will be 10 unique challenges testing paddling skills and endurance.

Date: Sunday April 28, 2013
Time: Check in on the island 8:30 to 9:30 am. The Captains (rules) meeting is at 10 am sharp on the island. The first wave of participants starts at 10:30 am. Awards will be at a local venue, Hooters on Millers Bayou at 1:45 pm.

Race Classes: Under 20, 20 to 40, Over 40. Awards will be 3 deep in each class.
Registration: Early registration is $25.00. Register online at saltspringsalliance.com or download the registration form on Pasco County Parks and Recreation website and mail a check no later than April 19, 2013 to Pasco County Parks and Recreation, 4111 Land O’ Lakes Blvd. suite 202, Land O’ Lakes Florida, 34639. After April 19, 2013 registration will be $30.00. This includes an event shirt, water bottle, goody bag at check in and a chance at awards.

Launch Locations: Robert Rees Memorial Park (Green Key), Waterfront Park, Oelsner Park, Nicks Park, Sims Park, Brasher Park, Werner Boyce Salt Springs State Park
Waiver: All participants will be required to sign a participation liability waiver at Check In on the island. All participants must wear a PFD on the course and we strongly recommend wearing foot wear for protection when facing some of the challenges.
